Giving Q & A

Q. Why do individuals work with the Society instead of trying to raise the funds alone?

A. There are many reasons for this. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, each gift given is tax deductible. This is beneficial for our donors in making each charitable dollar go farther. In addition, many donors appreciate the third party accountability and financial security and administration that The Labouré Society provides. Often and most importantly, aspirants appreciate the encouragement and expertise of our staff, while dioceses and communities value the fundraising, media, and presentations skills their aspirants acquire in our program.

Q. Where does my gift go?

A. The Labouré Society assists vocations to religious communites that are in communion with the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church through fidelity to the Holy Catholic Church’s doctrines and dogmas in their community statements and the activities of their individual members.

Q. How much of my gift goes toward aspirants?

A. 100% of your gift goes toward aspirants.  90% goes to the current class for loan mitigation and 10% is a tithe to the next aspirant class to subsidize their training expenses.

Q. May I make a designated gift to a particular individual?.

A. No. All funds raised by the aspirant are deposited into one general aspirant fund because gifts directed to a particular individual are not viewed as tax-deductible by the IRS. Funds are then awarded to the loans of aspirants at the sole discretion of The Labouré Society based on participation. The participation of each aspirant is determined by their good faith effort to further the cause of the mission of The Laboure Society by fulfilling the stated requirements of the organization.

Q. Is anonymous giving possible?

A.  Aspirants are made aware of the names of those donating in their honor. However, donors may secure anonymity by informing The Society of their request.

Q. How do donors make gifts?

A. The Labouré Society accepts cash, check, credit cards, and gifts of appreciated stock. Gifts may be made via mail, secure online transactions, or contacting us directly for stock transfers.

Q. Can donors make automatic ongoing payments?

A. From our secure donation website, donors can choose the frequency: one-time, monthly, quarterly, or annually.  They can also choose the account they want automatic deduction from; credit card, checking, or savings.

Q. Do donors receive confirmation of their gifts?

A. The Society sends a ‘Thank You/Tax Donation’ letter to each donor.
