When you give to Labouré it’s not just a donation, it’s an investment in the future of the Church
By giving to Labouré you are partnering with us to help bring about the next generation of priests, sisters, and brothers. No matter how small or large the amount, every donation makes a difference.
The shortage of priests, sisters, and brothers has reached critical proportions
Since the year 2000, *nearly 1,800 parishes, 1,500 Catholic schools, and 50 Catholic hospitals have closed, due in part to the declining numbers of clergy and religious available to staff these institutions; this, at a time when the lay population has increased by 7 million people. When the number of priests, sisters, and brothers declines, it creates a ripple effect that is felt not only in parishes, but throughout communities and, indeed, nationwide.
And yet, thousands are ready to answer God’s call
In the midst of the present deficiency, it’s estimated that 10,000 people are discerning a priestly or religious vocation in the US annually. Unfortunately, 42% of those individuals are blocked from pursuing their calling due to outstanding educational loans.
The Labouré solution
Labouré’s mission and purpose is to help reverse the trend of diminishing numbers of priests, sisters, and brothers through education loan resolution. Simply put, we assist individuals discerning a vocation, who are unable to fulfill their dreams due to education loan obligations, through a combination of expert loan mitigation strategies and biblically-based philanthropy.
Labouré has been operating since 2003 with a modest staff. We have assisted more than 240 individuals into formation for the priesthood and religious life, and have awarded over $4.3 million in financial assistance. Our outreach efforts have resulted in a broad network of donors and other individuals (lay people, religious, priests and bishops) who regularly pray for Labouré, our aspirants, and our alumni.
